This young athletic woman has battled her way up the chain to find herself in the running for making her first Olympic Team in this upcoming 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. Sylvia has always wanted to represent her country on the highest athletic stage, but being informed at the age of 12 that she had Scoliosis, she thought her dream would be lost before truly getting started. With deep faith that anything is possible she vowed to give it her all. First with basketball all while getting her education, and graduating with a Bachelors Science in Computer Information Systems. Keeping her head on a swivel she began competing for USA Weightlifting while working full-time on her career. Lifting her dreams and engineering status, she buckled down to earn her way onto 3 international teams finishing as high as 5th then 7th in the second largest multi-sport event in the world under the Olympics! Seeing another opportunity to showcase her talents, Hoffman sparked interest in the coaches of USA Bobsled during her appearance in NBC's Next Olympic Hopeful. After winning Rookie Push Championships at the Olympic Training Center, she powered her way to the top as the fastest brakewoman becoming a 5x international medalist, 3x World Cup medalist with one being Gold, and 2x National push champion in her first 2 years in the sport! "I believe I can do it. My love for competing and doing so on the highest stage fuels the heck out of me. With help, education, and tailored exercises I have managed to stay away from the surgical threshold of 50 degrees. I've been through a lot, but I am no quitter. Everyday I wake up to live my dreams and inspire those around me. It's not easy, nothing truly worth giving your all is. But this is my dream and I vowed to give this Olympic journey my all."
