After leaving University I became a corporate lawyer working long hours in London. I loved running, but had little time for training other than running to and from the office. However in April 2020 Covid hit and my entire team and I at work were made redundant. I had 3 months before my next job started so I wanted a project to keep me occupied. I had always enjoyed running, so I decided I would try to run for Surrey county before the end of the year. An audacious project, but it got me fired up. After my first race post-redundancy I was invited to run for England, and then the British team. But I was still a full time lawyer. In 2022 I signed for Puma, gave up my job to run full time, and raced in the World Championships in USA for Great Britain. October 2022 I became British Champion and 10th overall at the London Marathon. It’s been a ride! And all in less than 2 years. Running was a lockdown project turned profession. My message is to take the leap and do everything you can to pursue your dream, because you never know it might just become your reality. I was hugely lucky that the obstacle Covid created ended up re-designing my future.
