 Farnaz Esmaeilzadeh was born in the mountainous regions of Iran to parents who taught her from an early age a love for the mountains. Both of her parents were athletes and mountaineers, and she followed in their footsteps. She started her competitive sport climbing career in 2002, winning her first medal at the Iranian National Championships (Silver), and from there she has competed at the highest levels of the sport, travelling all over the world to compete, including China, Korea, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Spain, Canada, Germany, and France. Through her years of experience, she has gained a reputation as an athlete who pushes herself to her limits, and one who always aims to improve herself every time she climbs up the walls. Outside of the competitive circuit, she has worked to help develop and grow the sport in her country, including coaching the next generation of Iranian women climbers. It is a passion of hers to promote sport and healthy living for the women of her country and to be an inspiration worldwide in matters concerning sports, health, and well-being She also is a very artistic person, having published a book of poetry, playing the guitar, and being an accomplished artist and painter.
