Wilfred Curioso is a professional fencer and combat-sport athlete based in Rhode Island, with a profile that blends competitive discipline, public-facing thought leadership, and a strong personal brand. He’s a compelling sponsor partner for campaigns that want authenticity, performance, and a creator who can connect athletics, culture, and commentary in a memorable way.
My name is Wilfred curioso. My family and I are immigrants from the Philippines. Below are my results. I am born and raised in Rhode Island because my father is a brown medical school fellowship graduate and medical professor now as well as a federal chief doctor at a government hospital in the capital. I now live in San Diego, California as a professional athlete for team Touche fencing center and lancet fencing manufacturer. For context, most of my family lives in San Fernando valley Los Angeles. My grandfather worked at a United States military naval base at subic bay olongapo, Philippines and has been bringing all his twelve brothers and sisters to the United States as our patriarch. Personally I like boxing and I am a huge manny Pacquiao fan. In addition to boxing I enjoy reading antiquated literature of Alexander the Great, Aristotle, Bhagavad Gita etc, writing poetry, listening to EDM and jack Johnson music as well as volunteering at homeless shelters because I would want to be there for the Americans who saved my family from third world poverty and gave us the American dream. I love foil fencing. It is my passion. I am from Rhode Island fencing academy and club where a very Buddhist, spiritual active meditation sports training was instilled in me. This situational awareness training for example is preparing for 13-12 losing scenarios or 14-14 scenarios at the senior FIE level in practice. My first international tournament in Paris I had won in the minime division. It was a great time to be alive as champion and hear my name defeat alex massialas in the finals shortly after seeing my USA flag risen with the national anthem played. The next two years I made cadet United States national team by also being top 8 senior travel United States national team and making international FIE senior points at World Cup. Things then changed when I graduated high school and that summer visited the Philippines. I saw extreme poverty for the first time. Living life in America I felt the bubble pop of my sheltered upbringing. My family came from dirt roads and tedious, laborious hard work. Funny story but very serious while my mother was pregnant with me, they had one car so she had to walk the hills of the capital in the New England winter alone. One day, a lady with a car that had holes in the seats yelled “pregnant lady get in my car it’s freezing” They are now my god mothers family. Without Americans we would not have survived. My grandparents and parents worked their lives to be Americans and I am working my hardest to make them proud. After seeing the Philippines and fencing there, I switched nationalities and competed for my family. I also began to volunteer at hospitals and homeless shelters more in the United States winning the United States presidential award from Obama. I then attended St. John’s university on athletic scholarship as a biology major. I won NCAA regional championships for the north east in my sophomore year but didn’t get to go to NCAA championships because my teammates finished the season first and second while I was third the same day I won as champion of tournament and in the actual physical battle in victory over both my teammates. My teammates went on to be Canadian olympic team and United States national senior travel team. Sophomore year was 2012 Olympics and I earned only bronze at the Asian Olympic zonals in wakayama Japan where the Olympian chosen is the gold medalist. I fought only up to the semi finals on the grand podium strip/piste. While in NYC, I trained with US Olympic coach Simon Gershon at fencers club, empire United with US Olympian Jed Dupree, Brooklyn bridge fencing under US Olympian dan Kellner, and then I went to five towns fencing with US Olympian jon Tiomkin. I’ve learned to hybridize my fencing style with the Japanese, soviets, and 2004 US Olympic team as well as my own experiences at the Olympic training centers of Asia. Hong Kong olympic training center, Singapore national stadium, Mongolia national stadium, Japan national stadium, China Wuxi national stadium, Russia olympic training center, Philippines ultra Phil sports complex OTC. After graduating university, I founded a university nonprofit chapter called “Global medical brigades” that gave food and medical supplies to malaria and typhoid stricken villages of Ekumfi Atakwa, Ghana. I saw my first death right in front of me. A man fell to the ground in seizure and I saw the light drain from his eyes feeling helpless as I called for help. This moment in Ghana pushed me to become a medical student at ross medical school. I competed two years but then I was given the opportunity to become a professional athlete in the Philippines national team where I won silver medal at southeast Asian games. As a professional athlete I decided to put on hold my medical school and pursue the Olympics again. Unfortunately I broke my hand and returned to the United States to train harder in New York City while working at south Brooklyn fencing club. I then went home to save money and started working as a behavioral specialist. After a few years working durkng Covid I returned to fencing but then went to work nearby my house at gold fencing club in Waltham Massachusetts. I hope one day to bring my family the glory and happiness they spent decades working hard for. ————————————————————— USA fencing coach license Safesport certification Background check certified by states of New York, California and federal background checks First aid certified EMT 911 medical professional Trained in Olympic training centers of Asia. Press Release · New York, NY
The world's largest athlete marketing platform reports 277 million views from soccer creators in the last eight weeks, with 1,552 bookable soccer athletes ready for brand activation across 15+ countries. Clients including Walmart and USA Today are already activating ahead of kickoff.
OpenSponsorship, the world's largest athlete marketing platform backed by Serena Williams and David Blitzer, today released proprietary data showing the scale of the creator opportunity around the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off Thursday, June 11th in North America. With brands including Walmart and USA Today already activating soccer creator campaigns through the platform, OpenSponsorship is positioned as the go-to partner for brands looking to win the biggest sports marketing moment of the decade.
The platform's soccer roster has generated 277 million views in the last eight weeks alone, with 276 viral posts clearing 100,000 views across just 86 athletes. OpenSponsorship has 1,552 publicly listed and bookable soccer athletes across 15+ countries, including 893 in the United States, alongside athletes from the UK, Mexico, Canada, Spain, Brazil, France, Nigeria, and more.
Brands that can't sign elite players can still reach their audienceWith 48 nations competing in the largest World Cup in history, brands face a common challenge: the biggest names are either off limits or out of budget. OpenSponsorship's data shows that mid-tier and creator talent routinely out-reaches their follower counts by 50 to 100x — giving brands access to the same passionate fan audiences at a fraction of the cost of global stars.
“The World Cup is the biggest commercial moment in sports marketing history, and the brands that win it will not be the ones who waited for the tournament to start. Our soccer athletes have already generated 277 million views in the last two months. The audience is engaged, the creators are ready, and the window to activate at the best rates closes when kickoff happens.” — Ishveen Jolly, Founder & CEO, OpenSponsorshipWalmart and USA Today: what World Cup activation actually delivers
OpenSponsorship's recent Walmart Soccer Saturday campaign demonstrates what's possible when brands activate the right soccer creators. The campaign — which featured AA9Skillz, Brittany Wilson, Matty Farias, Sean Garnier, and others — generated the following:
USA Today is also activating soccer creator campaigns through OpenSponsorship ahead of the World Cup, leveraging the platform's roster of 1,552 bookable soccer athletes to reach highly engaged audiences across the US, Canada, and Mexico — the three host nations for the 2026 tournament.
“When creators genuinely love a sport and an event, it shows in the content. The Walmart campaign worked because the athletes were authentic soccer fans first and brand partners second. That authenticity is exactly what drives the kind of engagement numbers brands cannot get from traditional advertising.” — Ishveen Jolly, Founder & CEO, OpenSponsorshipThe World Cup activation window
OpenSponsorship's data shows a clear opportunity curve for World Cup brand activation. Athletes are available now at pre-tournament rates, with demand and pricing expected to rise sharply once the group stage begins June 11th.
Brands that lock in creator partnerships before the tournament begins benefit from lower rates, more authentic content, and deeper athlete relationships that extend beyond the tournament window. OpenSponsorship's white-glove managed service handles sourcing, contracting, content briefing, delivery, and ROI reporting end to end.
