Wendy Young, the visionary behind Your Scrumhalf Connection, has been an ardent advocate for rugby since 2001. Her journey in rugby began as a player for the University of Oklahoma in 2001, and she later played for the Austin Valkyries and various select sides. Wendy's contributions extend beyond playing; she ventured into refereeing in 2008, achieving B Panel status and earning a place on the WPL Referee Panel in 2019. Currently, Wendy serves as a referee coach for the WPL and various other USA Rugby domestic leagues. In addition to her roles as a player and referee, Wendy has an extensive coaching background, having coached teams such as the University of Texas, Texas A&M, the Austin Valkyries, and various select side teams. As an administrator, Wendy has made significant contributions to USA Rugby and the Texas Rugby Union since 2009. Her remarkable dedication to rugby was acknowledged with her induction into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2014 and the Texas Rugby Union Hall of Fame in 2020. Wendy's impact on rugby broadcasting is noteworthy, as she has been a commentator since 2011. In 2023, Wendy made history as the first female play-by-play commentator for the Major Rugby League, becoming part of the league's first all-women broadcast team on March 18, 2023.
