 Vitaly Ucraniano is a big-wave surfer, jetski pilot and co-founder of TAKE HIGH Big Wave Surf Club and its professional tow-in team based in Nazaré, Portugal. He is the first Ukrainian big-wave surfer to surf Nazaré. A former competitive swimmer, his lifelong connection with water grew through surfing, sailing and a deep passion for the ocean, eventually evolving into a professional commitment to big-wave surfing. Today, he focuses not only on athletic performance but also on building the sporting processes, performance structure and team architecture behind TAKE HIGH. Inspired by both ocean sports and motorsport, Vitaly approaches a professional tow-in team much like a Formula 1 operation: where athletes, jet-ski pilots, rescue, technical preparation and strategy work as one system. His preparation includes apnea, breathwork, meditation, strength and conditioning, swimming and high-altitude training camps in the Alps. He has completed specialist training with BWRAG, JetResgate, GlobalMed Ocean Clínica and Ocean Warrior in Portugal and Brazil, and spent a lot of time under the mentorship of legendary Brazilian waterman Alemão de Maresias. His philosophy is built around discipline, commitment, human performance and results, while supporting young talent and creating a pathway for the next generation of big-wave athletes.
