 Scottish Professional Basketball Player and former Olympian I was born and grew up in Stirling. I didn’t stop growing up! I was the tallest teenager in my school and finally hit 6’ 10”. That set me apart. My height gave me an advantage. I embraced it and I’m lucky that others showed belief in me. I first played basketball for Falkirk Fury and then found myself heading across the Atlantic to go to High School in Maine. It was a culture shock for me and for my classmates! A number of US Universities offered me scholarships. Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, gave me the shot and when I graduated in 2008, I turned pro. I spent a couple of seasons in Italy - with Fortitudo Bologna and Angelico Biella - and then returned to Scotland to join Glasgow Rocks. In 2010, Spain came calling and I played seasons for Sigma Barcellona and Assignia Manresa. Further stints in Europe saw me playing in Greece, Bulgaria and back in Italy before coming home to Glasgow Rocks. I’ve been with the club for the last five years. I’m incredibly proud to have had a career spanning two decades – and even more proud that I was entrusted with the captaincy of both Scotland the Team GB, representing my country at both Commonwealth and Olympic Games. Today, I champion athlete transition and mental health awareness. I’m a regular on BBC, Sky Sports, Talk Sport and the BBL and enjoy the banter as one half of the Two Tall Dads podcast.
