My name is Paula Mejias and I am the team captain for the Puerto Rican gymnastics team. I started gymnastics when I was five years old in Puerto Rico and at the age of sixteen, I moved to Miami for better training conditions. Since then I have participated in Panamerican and Central American Games (finals on vault, floor and All Around), World Challenge Cups and World Championships. I am currently the only female gymnast from Puerto Rico to have four Gold medals and one Silver medal in World cups, and awarded five times by the Olympic Committee as the best athlete of the year. I am also a current student at FIU, persuing a bachelor degree in Biology.
