Born on 6.6.66 in Sydney, Australia, Ross made his name as a big wave surfer at the 1986 Billabong Pro and the Pipeline Masters in Hawaii. He went on to spend 12 years on the ASP World Tour. He has starred in and produced some of the most iconic surf films ever made, including Mad Wax, The Sixth Element (his own biopic, narrated by Dennis Hopper), Storm Surfers 3D and the four-part TV series of Storm Surfers. In January 2001, Ross became the first Australian surfer, in fact the first non-Hawaiian, to win the prestigious Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau. In 2004, and again in 2016, he took second place at the elite big wave competition now known as The Eddie. Ross divides his time between Portugal, Hawaii and Australia. He bases himself in Bells Beach, Australia, chasing fierce swells in the Southern Hemisphere in places like South Africa, New Zealand, Tasmania and Western Australia.
