Although Jerod Mayo spent only eight seasons in the NFL, he made an impact that was felt around the league. In Mayo's first season in 2008, the University of Tennessee alumnus recorded 128 tackles and was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. By his second season Mayo was a defensive captain and he retired with two Pro Bowl selections and a Super Bowl win. Mayo has developed a great reputation off the field as well, with a family oriented lifestyle and strong personal values. Mayo hostsed the annual Mayo Bowl from 2010-2018, before passing the reigns to Super Bowl Champion James White. The event is the largest athlete attended fundraising event in New England that benefits Boston Medical Center.
