 Hordur Bjorgvin played with his youth club Fram until he was loaned out in January 2011 to Juventus who eventually bought him in December 2011. He's been a key player for all youth national teams and also captained the U19. He is an U21 regular and in the spring 2014 he was selected for the Icelandic national team (A team) for the matches against Austria and Estonia but had to withdraw from the squad due to his involvement with Spezia's quest for promotion to Serie A. Hordur was part of the Juventus Primavera team and has also participated in pre-season training with Juventus first team. In end of July 2013 Juventus sold 50% of Hordur rights to Spezia Calcio and for the season 2013/14 Hordur played with Spezia in Seria B. In the summer of 2014 Hordur signed a new four-year contract with Juventus, who also bought back Spezia's 50%. He was loaned to Cesena in Serie A in 2014-2015 and again to Cesena in Serie B in 2015-2016. In the summer of 2016 he was a member of the Icelandic squad that reached the last 8 in the European Championship finals in France. Shortly after the tournament finished he signed a 3-year contract with the English Championship side Bristol City. During the World Cup 2018 in Russia Hordur signed for CSKA Moscow or on the 20th of June 2018. Hordur played all matches for Iceland during the World Cup.
