More than 11,000 skiers from 49 states and 27 countries participate in this cross country ski marathon in the Northwoods of Hayward, Wisconsin. Birkie Festival Week attracts more than 13,000 skiers of all ages and abilities each February. All of them attend the two-day Birkie Expo and bib pick-up and a Virtual Expo with 83,000 booth visits. The Birkie is also part of the Worldloppet circuit of over 20 international ski marathon races annually, and it is slated to be the site of the World Cup in 2024.
