I am so thrilled to be running the NYC Marathon for Shatterproof, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to reversing the addiction crisis in the US. Shatterproof works to revolutionize treatment & break the stigma behind addiction. Recently running the LA marathon was a pivotal moment in realizing how beautiful & full my life is today thanks to my sobriety. Coming up on 3 years sober, I understand the critical importance of treatment, community & a removal of the stigma of addiction to recovery. Running & fitness is a spiritual practice to my recovery & sobriety. The fact I get to do so for a cause I truly align with and care about makes it even more meaningful. My hope with my NY Marathon journey is to share the beauty of sobriety, help to change overdoses as the #1 cause of death & bring light to the addiction crisis that over 20 million Americans struggle with.
