Travis is a former Boston University hockey player who suffered a spinal cord injury in the first game of his collegiate career, which left him paralyzed from the neck down. In 1997, he published his autobiography, titled Eleven Seconds. He also started the Travis Roy Foundation, which raises money to help fund the search for a cure and to subsidize adaptive equipment for people living with spinal cord injuries.
