One of the youngest elite weightlifters in the country. Recently returned from an Australian Olympic Committee Team trip to the 5th Martial Arts and Indoor Games where she secured a respectable 5th place in a strong field. In the space of two years she has come from being an absolute beginner to a force of nature, pushing for selection to the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the -75kg class. Currently 2nd in the -75kg class nationally. Crowd favourite to win at the selection trials in December 2017, overtaking seasoned athletes demonstrating enormous potential with a long career ahead of her full of international representation for Australia. Sofia is passionate about being a role model for women in sport, destigmatising strength sports and encouraging better engagement of women with strength sports. Outside of sport, Sofia is doing postgraduate law at Melbourne Law School and has recently started volunteering with the Prison Legal Education and Assistance Project working with youth on remand at Parkville detention centre.
