Shiva Thapa is a 23 year old Boxer hailing from Guwahati, and competes in the Bantamweight category, 56Kgs. His current AIBA ranking is 3th in the world. He represented India at the 2016, Rio Olympic Games. Shiva is the youngest of six children. His father, Padam Thapa was a Karate instructor at Assam and his elder brother Gobind Thapa was a state level boxing champion. At a very young age, Shiva Thapa had taken a liking towards boxing and used to watch Mike Tyson’s bouts with great interest. He is the most successful Indian Boxer for the current season. He recently won the Silver Medal at the AOB Asia/Oceania Olympic Qualification tournament from there he got qualified for the 2016, Olympic Games and became the first Indian Boxer to qualify for the current Olympic Games. He is the third Indian Boxer to ever win a medal at the World Boxing Championships. He was youngest boxer from India to ever qualify for the 2012, London Olympic Games at the age of 18 Years. Shiva is also known as the poster boy of Indian Boxing. Currently shiva is training in Patiala at the National Boxing camp in preparation for the Olympic Games.
