 I’ve been involved in athletics most of my life. It has shaped who I’ve become today. Competition through sports has taught me to fight through adversity, push harder and to never quit. These lessons have translated to off the field success, whether it be in the classroom or through my military service. At a young age, I began my athletic career as a cross country runner. I learned to fight through the pain and push through to the end. Never quit. I started wrestling at 12. Wrestling taught me that hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. At 14 I picked up a dumbbell for the first time. I learned in the weight room its a marathon, not a sprint. That progress takes time and its a grind every day. I stepped on the gridiron for the first time at 15. From football, I learned that for a team to succeed you have to trust your brothers and sisters in adverse situations.
