 Kevin Maurice Garnett is a former professional basketball player who played 21 seasons in the National Basketball Association. When Garnett was in high school at Farragut Career Academy, he was named a McDonald's All-American in 1995 and won a national player of the year award. That same year he entered the NBA Draft and was selected with the fifth overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves. This made him the first NBA player drafted out of high school in 20 years. Garnett proved he was an instant success as he lead the Timberwolves to eight straight playoff appearances. In 2004, he led them to the Western Conference Finals and was named the NBA Most Valuable Player for that season. In 2007, after twelve seasons with Minnesota, he joined the Boston Celtics in a blockbuster trade that included seven assets for one, Kevin Garnett. In his first year with the team, he helped lead them to winning an NBA championship. Following his run with the Celtics he was then traded to the Brooklyn Nets in another big trade and two years later was traded back to Minnesota where he would finish out his career.
