Brock McGillis is a former professional hockey player, having played professionally in both the United States and Europe. McGillis is the first male professional hockey player to openly come out as gay. Brock has a degree in communications and sports communications from Laurentian University and is certified in diversity and inclusion from Cornell University and is currently being certified in the Science of Well Being from Yale University. McGillis has become a mental health and LGBTQ+ advocate. Brock speaks at a number of corporations, events, conferences, and schools. McGillis wrote a chapter on his story in the book “Everyday Hockey Heroes” by Bob McKenzie, co-authored a chapter in the book “Overcoming the Neutral Zone Trap: Hockey’s Agents of Change” Brock also has a digital TV series called This is Sh*t with World of Wonder (creator of RuPaul’s Drag Race and Million Dollar Listing LA) His story has been highlighted across the world in magazines, newspapers and on television. Features McGillis’ story and work include CBC The National, CTV’s Your Morning, ET Canada, and on the cover of IN Magazine.
