Matrix Multisport Matrix can be defined as the cultural environment in which someone develops. Here at Matrix Multisport we believe we have created an environment with the best coaches, insight, knowledge, and resources to develop sports coaching into a top-notch platform where we stand out from the rest. Matrix Multisport, founded by Richard Lawrie and Carl Mangan in January 2019, with over 10 years of coaching experience, both nationally & internationally, has already made a huge impact in Triathlon South Africa. In October of its novel year, Matrix produced three World Champions and 2nd place podium contenders in the Kona Hawaii Ironman World Championship race. We have grown to have several professional athletes who, under our guidance, have won a number of significant races and had multiple podium finishes. Currently Matrix multisport has an existing athlete base of ± 200 athletes and elevan coaches who are situated all around the world. There are currently three coaches in Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha, two coaches in Cape Town, three coaches in Johannesburg, one coach in Durban, one coach in Denmark Northern Europe and one coach in Dubai (UAE). We have athletes racing every weekend on a national and international level achieving multiple podiums at a variety of sports races and in a variety of sporting disciplines. Coaching Methods Our moto is Plan, Personalize, Perform and we feel that balance and communication is key to being the best version of yourself through sport and lifestyle. To achieve our goals and stay true to our motto, we use various tools. Each coach makes use of an online database, which allows them to coach their athletes all around the world. Our coaches carefully curate a weekly personalized program for each individual athlete as according to their disciplines, strengths, weaknesses, and lifestyles. These programmes update via the platform “Training Peaks”. This ensures that our athletes have access to their programmes with the click of a button. Furthermore, Training Peaks captures the data from our athletes various training devices in order for the coaches to analyse and keep tabs on the performance of their athletes. Using a platform like Training Peaks ensures maximum accountability and consistency from our athletes. Our coaches are always available to their athletes and provide an unlimited communication path. Should an athlete require a programme adjustment due to external circumstance, our coaches are able to adapt their programmes as and when needed. A screenshot of a typical programme on the Training Peaks platform can be seen below: Our Mission To find enjoyment and equilibrium for our athletes, through the implementation of personalised training plans and squad training, enabled by our own coaching experience and expertise. We want to educate our athletes to understand the “why” behind all training and techniques. What is in our near future? We intend to open an online sports shop near the end of 2023. The shop will sell all triathlon related equipment, nutrition, and training gear. Matrix Multisport has the potential to branch into multiple different industries and we look forward to seeing our company grow to new and greater heights. Matrix Multisport Objectives: • COACHING - Offering all athletes individualized training programs on an online platform called Training peaks. This allows Matrix to coach on an international level with athletes based all over the world. • KNOWLEDGE - Empowering athletes by continuously sharing experience & knowledge through our team of experienced coaches. Offering YouTube informational videos based on key topics related to sport, recovery, and nutrition. Providing a hands-on approach through group type environments or one on one meetings. • EQUALITY - Promoting equality in society by means of providing services for beginners to advanced athletes, underprivileged to self-paid, and young athletes right through to mature athletes; we cater for everyone. • GROUP TRAINING – Offering group sessions in a controlled and safe environment nationally, we also offer squad camps from time to time in different regions of the country. • PERFORM –We pride ourselves with the fact that we cater for all individuals, however, you are highly likely to see Matrix Multisport on the podium, if not the top step of most big races such as Ironman brand events. We are proud to announce that we won overall Ironman triathlon club nationally and ended ninth internationally. Matrix Multisport had 15 athletes on the podium at the Ironman African championship and Ironman 70.3 event in April 2023. We believe that this is mostly based on the fact that we are providing quality personalized programmes for every individual athlete. • SOCIAL MEDIA – At Matrix we have learnt that social media is a vital part of our business sector and we have taken quality measures to invest in our social media content for both our athletes, potential athletes, and our sponsors. Our matrix athletes are constantly active on social media and often spread our name through tagging us or dedicating their posts to Matrix Multisport. We urge and encourage our athletes to do so as this is great exposure for both our sponsors and the Matrix team. Our Facebook and Instagram pages are updated daily with the teams’ activities and results. According to our analytics, our posts reach up to 50 thousand people per month on average.
